FAQs

Do you hold classes for puppies, beginner, intermediate or advanced classes?

No, we do not. The classes are designed for all dogs regardless of age or breed.
All ages of dogs interacting together is a much more appropriate and natural learning environment for your dog. We do not discriminate against breed or size. All dogs are welcome!

What are masking tools?

Masking tools are items used in dog training such as treats, prong collars, shock collars, choke chains, harnesses etc. These masking tools are a quick fix and do not correct the original negative behavior. They take away the dog’s ability to think and make decisions, therefore taking away taking away the mental stimulation needed when working with your dog.

Is there a price break for referrals or a second dog?

Yes. If you would like to register a second dog in the household, that second dog will be able to attend the class for half of the original price.
Re-FUR a Friend to a group class for a $50.00 discount.

Can I bring other members of the family to the Street Safety Class?

Yes! In fact we encourage it. The more onboard the whole family is the better results you will see. The more the merrier. We teach you step by step-we will work with all members of the family so everyone is on the same page with the training

Do you do Private Sessions?

Yes! We will help you set new rules and boundaries in your home for your dog and teach you leadership skills so that your dog sees you as the Alpha. This session is for you if your dog jumps on people, is destroying personal property, if you want to control the annoying barking or digging or maybe you just want your dog to have manners. Establishing leadership with your dog begins with the walk. These private sessions are results oriented and are 1.5 hours in length and in most cases requires only two sessions.

Tip of the month

THE CORRECT WAY TO GREET A DOG

  • No Eye contact
  • Let the dog approach you in his own time.
  • Keep either your SIDE or BACK towards the dog.(non-threatening posture)
  • Pet or stroke him on the SIDE of his face or body or on his back

Don’t – Lean over the dog & stick your hand in his face.

Don’t – Lean over the dog and stick your hand on top of his head.

Don’t – Grab or Hug him.

Don’t – Stare him in the eye (This is an adversarial gesture)

Don’t – Squeal or shout in his face.

Don’t – Grab his head and kiss it. (This is an invasion of space)

Doing this to a dog who doesn’t know you is like a perfect stranger giving you a great big hug and kiss in an elevator. Wouldn’t that creep you out? And wouldn’t you have the right to defend yourself?

Respect is key in Dogdom
